Functions of ‘CAPTCHA’

A typical captcha is the one that requires a user to read the letters and / or numbers (characters) that he sees in an image and write them in a text field. If the characters in the image match those of the user, it is generally a human user. The image does not consist of simple characters, as these could be recognized by some computerized character recognition system. But, generally, the characters are distorted and there are all kinds of background elements to make difficult the interpretation of the characters by the computers (as can be seen in the image).

Which of the following methods is most effective in stopping bots from auto-completing forms online?

META tag denial code.
Robot.txt file setup.
